VBS MISSION CONTROL FINAL REPORT
Galactic Blast VBS, sponsored jointly by the Presbyterian and Methodist churches, was enjoyed by almost
forty Space Cadets. Each day was filled with how our God is magnificent, amazing, wonderful, awesome and
incredible. Bible stories, science discovery, crafts, recreation and music were enjoyed by ages 4 through s"
grade. A special guest each day was Galileo the Gorilla (ask any kid what color Galileo was!). The mission
project offering for this year collected donations for the Freedom Service Dogs, an organization that trains
dogs to help veterans with disabilities - the project raised $130.00. Many thanks to all the volunteers,
teachers, helpers and leaders Joan Olsen and Jesse Feather who helped Galactic Blast be a successful
mission from blast off to re-entry!
From Jesse
About a month ago my band, Junction 316 was asked to be the opening band at a youth event in
Burlington. We were excited to not only play but to do ministry along with high energy worship songs.
I get excited for the opportunities to tell people of the love God has for us. There are so many scriptures
that I can use to tell of God's love, starting with John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His
one and only Son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” That pretty much
sums up a love that each one of us experiences but has trouble with because we cannot love that
much, or at least I can't. I don't have a child but I have a niece and I can tell you that I would not give
her up to save another, I can't imagine how much stronger ! that love would be with my own child. Even
cooler is John 3:17 which says "For God did not send His Son into, the world to condemn the world, but
to save the world through Him." Jesus came for each one of us, not to condemn us for our sin, but rather
save us. That is cool, like a superhero. I find the love of God amazing, it is really something else,
especially when I read a passage such as Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you,
“declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." The
plans that God has for each one of us are not plans to harm us but rather plans that make us prosperous,
give us I hope and knowledge that we always have a future. I think my favorite part comes from Jeremiah
29:13-14 "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you",
declares the Lord, "and will bring you back from captivity. I will gather you from ail the nations and place
where I have banished you," declares the Lord, "and will bring you back to the place from which I
carried you into exile." I love that whenever we truly seek God we will find Him, and He will lift us up as
promised. Life is not an easy thing to go through but I when we fall, God in His wonderful mercy picks us
up and leads us from place to place. As I have written all this 'I have finally come to the idea of what this
has to do with my band, Junction 316 and the core of our ministry. Each of our lives is a set of roads that
we choose to travel. When we come to the realization of wanting to follow Christ we have a choice to
merge and believe the passage from John 3: 16 - to believe without seeing and know that God will watch
out for us. God will make every other path we have traveled to that point null. As followers of Christ we
have merged onto the road He has forged for us, "knowing that the path Christ calls us to is a road that
gives us hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11.
