G
athering and Praise
*Call to Worship (leader/people)
What matters most? Jesus answered by saying to love God with all that we have
– heart, soul, mind, and strength - and to love those around us. And then Jesus
Christ, Son of God and living as man, went beyond words. Jesus’ love for God
became active and alive as he showed God’s grace to sinners and served
those in need. As we gather this morning may we follow Jesus’ model of worship
and service.
Come, let us worship. Let us bow before the Lord, our God. God deserves
our songs of praise for the Lord is a great God.

The Holy One is our God, and we are his people.
We are called and chosen, fed and cared for as the sheep of his flock. Listen
today for the voice of our Shepherd and worship the Lord our God.

Confession and Grace
*Prayer of CONFESSION (leader/people)
Today, the prayer of confession and the words of forgiveness are based on
John 1 and Psalm 23.  As we consider these words, remember that the same
God who calls us to worship and praise also calls us to a time of confession –
a time to become right with God and to experience God’s grace.  Let us pray . . .
Gracious God, how amazing is your love for us. You sent your only Son
to save us. You made your Word flesh so you could be among us. You
sent Jesus to earth to conquer sin and death!  Forgive us for not living
as joyful, forgiven people - free from fear and loss.  Forgive us for not
sharing our joy through words and actions with those around us.  As
we pray, speak to our hearts with ways to love and serve you more . . .

*Words of Forgiveness (leader/people)
Hear the good news from the gospel of John: “To all who received him, who
believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God… And the
Word became flesh and lived among us, and we have seen his glory, the glory
as of a Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.” Friends, in Jesus Christ, our
Shepherd of goodness and mercy, we are forgiven.
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green
pastures; he leads me beside quiet waters; he restores my soul.He guides
me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. When I walk through
the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup over-
flows. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

*SONG of PRAISE            OH LORD, YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL
Oh Lord, you’re beautiful, your face is all I seek.
For when your eyes are on this child,
your grace abounds to me.

Prayers of the People

THE LORD’S PRAYER
(using “sins” and “those who sin against us”)
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.

And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

*SONG of PRAISE

PRAISE GOD from WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW

Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;

Praise Him above, ye heavenly host;
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.  Amen.

*Prayer Of Thanks (Unison)
God of grace, take all that we offer – our gifts, our time, our lives.  Add the
power of your mighty hand and the love of your unending grace, so that
what we offer will heal, feed, serve and show your Good News to those
around us.  In the name of Jesus.  Amen.

  *BENEDICTION

*Response     CALLED AS PARTNERS in CHRIST’S SERVICE (vs. 4)
 So God grant us for tomorrow ways to order human life
that surround each person’s sorrow with a calm that conquers strife.
Make us partners in our living, our compassion to increase,
messengers of faith, thus giving hope and confidence and peace.
